Fellowship Application - Deadline is April 1, 2025
The CJF fellows each may receive up to $1,000 to help cover the cost of tuition to a media program on a college campus. If a student receives a fellowship and then does not return to the high school staff, then the money must be returned to the CJF account at the Broward Education Foundation. Applicants research and decide which program to attend. For some programs, check out this link: https://dowjonesnewsfund.org/high-school-student-program/directory-of-high-school-workshops/.
Recipients are selected through a six-part application that includes a recommendation from the journalism or media teacher, essay answers, a list of activities/honors and samples of work. Applications are due April 1, 2025. Members of the CJF Executive Board select the winners. Download the attached application. Read all parts carefully. Make sure you and your parents both sign the form. You must include a recommendation from your journalism teacher, a list of your activities/honors and for print, only five (5) samples of your work attached to 8 1/2 X 11 paper or digital explaining what your job was in each sample. Broadcast entries are limited to 4-minutes sampling different projects and responsibility. You must type your answers to the essay questions using good journalistic writing. Students must email all six (6) parts of the completed application including the scanned samples for print or digital format for broadcast to [email protected]. Do not miss the deadline. Good luck. |
